1. Angst (DoFP AU) The bridge tumbles into pieces down the ravine, leaving a hundred-yard gap between the two of them and Brady and Yarne. He's feeling foolhardy, but hopeful, and ignores Brady's blasphemes. Owain unsheathes his sword, looking so much like his father in this final moment; he's never been prouder of calling anyone a best friend. Inigo's shaking a bit as he takes the ring from his breast pocket and slips it on his finger. "I was saving this for the end of the war, love, but it looks like the curtain's falling sooner than I thought," he murmurs, kissing the stone.
In a moment the Risen are on them, and then there's no more time.
2. AU He's the only boy in ballet class, tall as a stack of six apples and moving with more grace and purpose than an entire classroom full of little swan princesses playing stand-in for their mothers' stage dreams. She calls him names and trips him up, makes faces at him when the teacher isn't looking (difficult, when two out of four walls are full-length mirrors), but when two neighbourhood boys call him mean words, she breaks their noses and holds his hand.
3. Crack (DoFP good end) The reports of bandit activity in the area dwindle to nothing almost overnight, so of course Lucina sends her to investigate. "They just needed something constructive to fill their time with!" Inigo protests, when she finds him leading them through the steps of a quadrille.
4. Crossover (Ranma 1/2) The whole bait-and-switch thing had been a pretty big blow to his ego, but Inigo had to admit that the whole water thing had to be pretty tough to live with. "So at first she's all: 'don't think I like you or anything!', but then she smiles and it's like--" Plus, there's something to be said about having someone who understands.
5. First Time "I've never done this before, so don't expect anything that great," she hisses, but his smile is the very image of confident reassurance. "You'll be fine love, just follow my lead." With one hand at her waist and hers on his shoulder, he moves with fluid grace, bringing her along for the ride despite her hesitant steps. They've been partners in everything, so letting him lead entirely is a bit jarring--"no dipping!" she shrieks when he tries.
6. Fluff After the war, Libra marries them, and even though there aren't any gowns to spare in the army, she dons a white slip of her mother's and Cynthia braids lilies into her hair. Cordelia and Olivia hold each other and weep. Lon'qu weeps but pretends he didn't. They dance and revel until Brady's fingers are numb and the dawn blots out the stars, surrounded by their closest friends, cheeks flushed by mulled wine and happiness. When they finally sink exhausted into sleep, it's under the shade of tall swaying poplars, legs braided into one another and all their future glittering ahead.
7. Humor "There's no real reason only women ride these animals, is there?" asks Inigo, swinging into saddle. Cynthia only has time to say, "Inigo, don't--" before the peaked pegasus rears and launches forward. It takes a solid fifteen minutes before an angry Severa manages to corral her irate mount and terrified boyfriend back to the ground.
8. Hurt/Comfort She makes a big production out of her reluctance and how he embarrassing this is, but she pets his hair while she reads him the book, and out of the corner of his swollen eye, he can see her smile.
9. Smut She doesn't dance, never has--but she's more than content to watch him, one hand lazily between her thighs while he sways, stripping slowly. There's no music to guide him, only his own pounding heart and her quickening breaths; if his pace speeds up, it's only his desperation to join her, which soon overwhelms them both.
10. UST He's the only one who ever sees it completely unbound: her silky-straight hair falling in a long river down her back, tickling her tighs. When she finally lets him sink his fingers in deep, bunching up a mass of strands, it's a sharp physical pleasure that makes them both quiver and sigh.
Owain returns with his father's sword and a badly-fletched Risen arrow.
"Mother, I'm sorry...I couldn't—" is all he manages before her legs give out.
--
2. AU
He watches her, three paces behind. Brimming with energy despite the snapping cold, she uses her staff as a walking stick: he can see she's too amazed by the beauty of Gagazet to slow down, or even look where she's going. Sumia walks with her, and their laughter rings out as they slip over the ice. He treasures this tranquility; he knows what awaits on the far side of the mountain. Zanarkand.
He understands Chrom's intention: refusing to watch a second sister go the way of the first, dead in the finals steps of her pilgrimage. But the Calm will need men like Chrom. Lon’qu knows what he needs to do.
Her listens to her laughter and holds it close to his heart.
--
3. Crack
Her attempt to teach him needlework lasted for all of five minutes before Gaius felt compelled to become involved and Lon'qu proved that a needle could, in fact, be used to commit grievous bodily injury.
--
4. Crossover
"Oh, it's so cute!" Lissa coos, bending to pet the rappig.
As Lord Gardios frantically scrambles backwards, Lissa laughs far more cheerily than anyone ought.
"Oh man, I know someone you should meet!"
--
5.First time
She has to be gentle, coaxing, coaching him through it. It's all new for him. He's never been this intimate with anyone. His heart is hammering in his chest, every muscle wound taunt. Sweat beads at his brow.
"Do you want to stop?"
Her voice is worried.
"No." It's his pride as a man talking. He doesn't want to disappoint her, make her doubt her choice. No more distance, they'd promised.
She's so close. He can feel the heat rising from her skin. Her quivering breath ghosts against his neck.
She leans her cheek against his collarbone, letting him tuck her head beneath his chin. His arms complete the circle around her shoulders, and he gingerly holds her there. He's never cuddled anyone before.
Small steps.
--
6. Fluff
He returns home only to be greeted by a deviously crafted ambush: his wife and toddler have taken arms against him. Diving behind a tree, it's all he can do to hasten the construction of his own fortress while they pelt him with snowballs.
As one impacts massively just shy of his head, he frowns and peers out again over the battlefield. Peeking out behind Owain's woolen cap, badly hidden by the ridge of their snow fort, is a telltale bald head.
"Basilio. You traitor."
"She promised me cheese rolls!"
Lissa scores the first hit, and makes enough rolls for all of them to share afterwards.
--
7. Humor
It's still dark out when he's roused from sleep. Owain's wail reaches them from the next room over, through the stone. He nudges his wife, who makes a drawn-out noise of displeasure.
"He's your son, you go rock him," she mutters, turning over.
--
8. Hurt/Comfort
He's not much of a healer. When she falls ill, little Owain is the one who tends to her, fluffing her pillows and fetching medicine from the cabinets at her instruction. It's Lon'qu, however, who gets up at dawn to prepare her favourite stews and soups, then sits at her bedside to spoon it into her mouth.
--
9. Smut
The fire in the hearth crackles with orange-yellow flame that lights her skin gold. She writhes beneath him on the furs, knees drawn up to wrap her legs around his waist. He's quiet, letting her know how he feels with the press of his fingers, the slick slide of his tongue, the relentless power of his hips. She moans and mewls and drags her nails down his back, and if his release comes shamefully quick, she shows him just how to make up for it.
--
10. UST
His fingers comb one of her pigtails, almost playfully--if Lon'qu could ever be called playful--before stalling with the very tip of one golden lock between thumb and forefinger. Their eyes meet, and she realizes how close he is, and how wonderful the proximity feels.
Chrom clears his throat, loudly, and Robin laughs.
1. Angst He brushes her hair in long, gentle strokes that make her hum. When he finishes, she offers him a shy smile, stuttering a broken 'thank-you' before trailing off. She can't remember his name.
---
2. AU "Agent," her tone is dry, but not entirely unamused, as she peruses the file on her desk, "when I told you to 'clean up after yourself', I wasn't expecting the scene to look so..." Her hand lifts and stalls in the air for a moment as she searches for the word, "crispy."
"There was a large amount of sensitive information contained inside, all of which I photographed and forwarded directly to you before using the tools at my disposal," he argues, adjusting his cufflinks. "I had little time with which to dispose of the documents."
M shakes her head, and reminds herself not to let Q put flamethrowers on her agents' vehicles anymore.
---
3. Crack "Frederick."
"Yes, milady?"
"Let's elope."
---
4. Crossover Chagum is young, but well-spoken and thoughtful, and discussing politics with him is refreshing given their shared standpoints. They watch their companions spar over a tray of delicacies: when Frederick finds himself with Balsa's spearpoint at his throat, it's with some regret that Emmeryn is forced to give up the very last honey cake.
---
5. First Time She can't help a pang of jealousy when Lissa skins her knee and immediately cries for Frederick instead of her big sister.
---
6. Fluff He brushes her hair, every night. One hundred strokes, or so she tells him, will make it shine. Sometimes, he messes one up. In those times, she says, it's best to just start the count from the top.
Just in case.
---
7. Humor He hoists little Lissa up so that she can loop her arms around his neck; instead she reaches over and grabs her sister, dragging her in. "Now kiss!" she commands, looking triumphant in the face of their twin blushing faces.
---
8. Hurt/Comfort She loves and appreciates him, she tells herself. When he arrives at her chamber door with fifteen different herbal remedies and three kinds of massage oil, though, she has to gently remind him that her slight ankle sprain will resolve itself in a few days--without excessive interference.
---
9. Smut Nude, he slides to his knees, taking her left foot in his hands. With great care he washes it, massaging fruit oil into her sole before reverently kissing the arch, his lips trailing up to worship each toe. She squirms in her chair, one hand between her thighs and the other clenching against the armrest. Relentless, he pursues his task to the other foot, making her dissolve into whimpers with the slide of his tongue, until she can't stand it anymore, she makes him come up.
There, with his hands braced against the armrests, she can kiss him long and hard, her toes dancing along his heavy erection, catching its warmth between her soles and rubbing in long strokes until his breath hitches, his hand joining hers at her center. Panting and trembling, they ride it out, together.
---
10. UST Piece by piece, his armor comes off. He fumbles his fastenings, exposing the thick material of his gambeson and, where his jerkin has torn, slips of reddened skin. Sweat dribbles down his nape, so the gambeson comes off as well; playfully, Stahl grabs the trough and tips water over them both, an exquisite relief from the summer sun. They hurry out of their maille, snarling and laughing like dogs.
He shakes his head, reaches up to push his sopping hair back from his eyes; his undershirt is soaked now, revealing the hard edges of his chest and abdomen.
Watching from the training ground fence, Emmeryn blinks when she spies Chrom frowning next to her.
"The knight training's over, Emm. What are you even looking at?"
Phila, ever at her side, coughs away her amusement.
